Exercise For All PDF Print E-mail

 

St Cronan’s Association in Roscrea have recently completed a 12 week exercise programme in partnership with the North Tipperary Sports Partnership (NTSP). The programme was designed to highlight the importance of physical activity for all in a Fun and Structured environment. Exercise classes included Zumba Dancing, Taekwon-Do Skills, aerobics and much more.

Philomena Ryan delivered the variety of activities and stated that, “the lads really enjoyed the classes and as the weeks went on they all grew in confidence and competence.”

Disability Inclusion Training

On the 8th of December 2012 North & South Tipperary Sports Partnerships facilitated a Disability Inclusion Training workshop delivered by the CARA Adapted Physical Activity Centre (www.caraapa.ie). The course was a great success and booked out well in advance of the day.

This workshop is designed for sports coaches, instructors, sport leaders, parents, volunteers and anyone interested or involved in the provision of sport and physical activity for people with disabilities. 

The training course was developed by the National Training and Education Working Group for Inclusive Physical Activity, Sport and Physical Education. It is designed to give participants the ideas, knowledge and confidence to adapt their sessions to make them more accessible for people with disabilities.

The workshop includes both theory and practical elements.
The course has been designed for a range of audiences including National Governing bodies, Coaches, Sports Development Officers and Sports Volunteers.

North Tipperary Boccia County Final

The North Tipperary Boccia County Final was held recently in Borrisokane. Boccia, the popular Paralympic sport similar to bowls has been established in Tipperary for a number of years. The 2012/2013 season was contested by teams from St Cronan’s (Nenagh & Roscrea), the Freewheelers in Newtown and the Irish Wheelchair Association.

 

In a thrilling Final match the Freewheelers edged out St Cronan’s to win the 2012/2013 North Tipperary title. The league has an emphasis on participation and the social aspect of the league is very important to all involved. The League is organised by the North Tipperary Sports Partnership.
